Marquetta is a Partner at Carlock Copeland. She focuses her practice in the areas Employment and General Litigation, including defending public and private entities in employment-related litigation brought under Title VII, Section 1983, and other federal and state laws. She has successfully represented clients before the District Courts of Georgia, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the EEOC.
Prior to joining Carlock Copeland, Marquetta worked with the U.S. Dept. of HUD. Her practice included defending the agency and its key personnel against employment, contract, and administrative law matters. She also counseled management regarding compliance with employment and other laws. In 2007, Marquetta was recognized by the Federal Executive Board for her litigation success.
During law school, Marquetta served as the Vice-Chair of the University Judicial Board and President of the Black Law Students Association. Marquetta was recognized by the National Association of Women Lawyers and the Urban League as an Outstanding Law Student. In 2001, she worked as a summer associate with the law firm of Taft, Stettinius, and Hollister, LLP, where she focused her defensive litigation practice on labor and employment and municipal liability.
Marquetta is active in the community. Her involvement includes serving as Co-Chair of the ABA recognized youth legal education/mentoring project, "If You Can See It, You Can Be It." She is also a graduate of the 2008 Class of the YLD Leadership Academy of the State Bar of Georgia. She is also regularly invited to speak to new attorneys regarding the practice of law.
In 2010, 2011 and 2012, Marquetta was honored on the Georgia Rising Stars list in Atlanta Magazine/Law and Politics, voted by her peers as one of Atlanta's best young lawyers.
